Immersion at Scale: Where LBE Fits in the XR Market:
A Webinar Presentation with Bob Cooney of Lexra.org on the past/ present and future of Location based XR Entertainment and Experiences. With Meta, Snap, Google and others now selling AR - XR glasses as well as XR HMDs its a great time to learn more about how XR outside of the home is offering new opportunities in computer graphics and tech/media jobs.
Hosted by LA SIGGRAPH Vice Chair Larry Rosenthal.
Join CG Pro’s Edward Dawson-Taylor and instructor John Waynick on a tour of Unreal Engine highlighting new capabilities in the most recent releases. Version 5.6 introduced improvements to rendering, world building, animation, procedural workflows, MetaHumans, physics and more. Version 5.7 is expected to add Nanite Foliage allowing detailed, fully geometric trees and foliage that voxelizes at a distance, plus an improved World Partition for smoother open-world streaming. This is an interactive online presentation with live demonstrations and ample time for Q&A. Edd is Co-Founder of CG Pro, a Gold Unreal Authorized Training Center.
On January 14, 2026, at 8:00 pm Eastern, the ACM SIGGRAPH Pioneers will present the next in our year-round series of panels on topics of importance to the computer graphics and interactive techniques communities.
Panelists have been selected to provide a diverse overview on how computer graphics, 3D printing, AR, VR and AI have evolved and are being used today in the medical profession. Topics vary from the earliest work in molecular visualization to creating animation for surgical techniques for Abbot, Medtronic, and Johnson & Johnson using software like Maya, ZBrush, V-Ray and Unreal, to the 3D design and manufacture of prosthetic limbs, to developing video games for physical therapy, interactive training for nurses, and AI-powered immersive platforms and technical standards for XR in healthcare.
The Panel is open to all ACM/SIGGRAPH Pioneers and their associates, you can register at this zoom link:

As narrated by the tagline of the last AWE Conference in Long Beach, CA, and since followed up by the daily news stories about the future of Hollywood and public social media AI usage and what's real and what's not, the AI+XR Medium and its fallout are now here.
Join us for a Presentation and Discussion with Alvin Wang Graylin, Author of "Our Next Reality" and the current Chairman of the Virtual World Society. With over 35 years in AI and Immersive technologies and as the former Global Vice President at HTC, Alvin is an ideal guide to lead a discussion on AI, XR, and the broader ethical issues we now face.
Alvin has been writing and lecturing globally about the civic and cultural challenges we face in a possible "Age of Abundance" driven by the convergence of AI and XR, which is forming a new medium with new creative and business possibilities. He's assembled a presentation using elements of his most current talks and writings that focus on the ethical challenges and requirements we all will face as these powerful mediums become mainstream and we face our choices of how to benefit or not from their usage.
There'll be plenty of Q&A time for audience discussion. This will be the LA ACM SIGGRAPH Meeting of 2026 on AI that you won't want to miss!
Hosted and moderated by XR/media veteran and LA ACM SIGGRAPH Vice Chair, Larry Rosenthal.
The origin stories and trajectories of women in VFX will be highlighted in this panel co-hosted by Donna Tracy and Diane Piepol. It will be presented in conversation with Lydia Bottegoni, Judith Crow, Laurel Klick, and Alison Yerxa. We will investigate the when, where, and how these women gained entry into the rarified world of VFX, where those paths led, along with their experience of the titanic transition of Hollywood to digital media and tools. We will also consider parallels to the current revolution underway in media production.
Each of their stories tracks unique paths, obstacles, and successes as artists, software designers, supervisors, producers, and directors working in the industry. All these women have a perspective and a vision to share that gives insight into the zeitgeist of the time in LA’s digital effects and CG communities. Their enduring determination drove them to contribute their talents, skills, and ultimately, their creative lives, while striking out upon their paths.
These women have walked through walls in their journeys. This is an opportunity to learn how they made it possible and accomplished what they have achieved.
Participants are subject to change.
