Sheriann Ki Sun Burnham (a.k.a. Sheri Ki Sun) is a visual artist and designer working in mixed media/digital fine art, graphic design, and creative production. Born in Seoul, South Korea, she came to the U.S. when adopted at the age of two. She received a B.A. in Studio Art from Cal State Long Beach in 1982.
Sheri has utilized digital technologies in her artistic practice since 1981. She explores handmade and computational systems in creating static and time-based art. Her work has been exhibited and published, nationally and internationally since the mid-1980’s, including: multiple ACM SIGGRAPH Art Shows and Traveling Shows, Graphite in New Zealand, Artware: Kunst und Elektronik in Germany, The New York Digital Salon and Traveling Show, John Wayne and Ontario International Airports, and the Long Beach Museum of Art. Sheri has worked on collaborative VR projects at Caltech and Brown University, and in 2018 was Visiting Artist in Digital Media at Bowling Green State University, Ohio. In 2004 she received an Individual Artist Fellowship from the Long Beach Public Corporation for the Arts.
Since 1993, Sheri has run an independent art and design service working on a wide range of projects in product design, print and digital media.
Sheri is a member of the Long Beach artist group FLOOD. They currently produce soundpedro, the annual season of sound art events presented in partnership with Angels Gate Cultural Center in San Pedro, CA. Her responsibilities include graphic/web/video design and production.
