Style × size availability matrix

Which styles are offered at which sizes, and in which formats. SVG is vector, so the same file is used at every size — those links point to one file across the row. Raster formats (PNG, JPEG, WebP) are generated per fixed pixel size.

Notes:

  • The wordmark lockups (horizontal, vertical) are n/a at Bug size because Bug is below the 64 px minimum size for anything with text.
  • JPEG is not offered at Bug size — the icon needs a transparent background, which JPEG doesn’t support.
  • PNG at Bug/Small/Medium is unbracketed only for the graphic-only and horizontal-lockup styles — those are the individually-released combinations per the distribution plan. PNG for the vertical lockup, PNG for the flat style, PNG at Large/XL, and JPEG/WebP everywhere are ZIP-pack-only.
  • All SVGs are already linked; the unbracketed PNGs still need to be generated and linked.

File naming convention

Files follow the pattern /path/[style][layout][size].svg:

  • path - is always siteImages/Logos
  • styleshade (gradient) or flat (solid color)
  • layoutlogo (icon only), horiz (horizontal lockup), or center (vertical/stacked lockup)
  • size — canvas width in pixels (e.g., 1000 for XL)

Example: /siteImages/Logos/lasig-logo_shade_center_1000.png = shaded, centered text, PNG format, XL size. Note that all SVG files have _1000 for their size.

Usage guidelines

  • Purpose. Use the logo only to identify the LA ACM SIGGRAPH Professional Chapter.
  • No modification. Do not alter the logo file, except for the wordmark addition permitted below.
  • Integrity. Maintain the logo's integrity in every use, including on 3D objects (merchandise, signage, booth builds, etc.).
  • No recoloring. Use the provided shaded or flat color versions as-is. Don't apply arbitrary color overlays, filters, or effects (drop shadows, outlines, bevels).
  • Clear space. Keep clear space around the logo at least equal to the height of the icon mark on all sides, and don't crowd it with text or other graphics — except for the wordmark placement described below.
  • Wordmark exception. The only text permitted with the logo is "LA ACM SIGGRAPH," placed directly beneath it, meeting all of: Arial or Helvetica; bold; all uppercase; font size at least 8% of the logo's image height and never less than 8px; text width within 10% of the logo's image width.
  • Lockup selection. Use horizontal lockups for wide/short spaces, vertical (center) lockups for square or tall spaces, and graphic-only marks for small or already-identified contexts.
  • Background contrast. Place the logo on backgrounds with enough contrast for the icon colors and wordmark to read clearly. On busy or photographic backgrounds, use a solid plate behind the logo or switch to the flat version.
  • Minimum size. The bug (favicon) version is supplied only at 16×16 and 32×32px and must not be used at any other size. All other logo versions must not be used smaller than 64px wide.
  • Scaling down. The logo may be scaled down if a suitably sized asset isn't available, subject to the minimum size rule above.
  • Scaling up. The logo may be scaled up by a maximum of 20% if a suitably sized asset isn't available.

Visual integrity

It is critical to ensure that any adjustments in size or dimensions of the logos are made proportionally, so that the overall logo visual impression is not distorted. You must keep the Logo intact and use all parts of it. If you are applying a 2D logo to a 3D surface, you must ensure the logo is mapped with integrity to the 3D surface to which it is applied.

NOTE: LA ACM SIGGRAPH recognizes that the requirements for visual integrity may occasionally conflict with other requirements described in this document. In such instances, the user may compromise on such other requirements, solely to the extent necessary to ensure that the logo use continues to comply with all requirements for Visual Integrity.

Content types

The logo comes in four content types. An example of each is shown below at its native aspect ratio while keeping the graphic at the same (small - 150px) size.

Shaded, graphic only

Icon mark with gradient shading, no wordmark. Use where the chapter is already identified by context — app icons, favicons, social avatars, watermarks.

Shaded graphic-only mark

/siteImages/Logos/lasig-logo_shade_graphic_1000.svg

Shaded, graphic + text (horizontal)

Icon and “LA ACM SIGGRAPH” wordmark side by side. Use in wide layouts — website headers, letterhead, email footers, presentation title bars.

Shaded horizontal lockup with wordmark

/siteImages/Logos/lasig-logo_shade_horiz_500x.png

Shaded, graphic + text (vertical)

Wordmark stacked above the icon, centered. Use in square or tall layouts — social profile images, posters, title slides, printed signage.

Shaded vertical lockup with wordmark

/siteImages/Logos/lasig-logo_shade_center_1000.svg

Flat, graphic only

Solid, non-gradient version of the icon mark, no wordmark. Use where gradients won’t reproduce well (small sizes, single-color printing, embroidery, low-quality displays), or anywhere a graphic-only mark is called for but a flatter visual weight is wanted.

Flat graphic-only mark

/siteImages/Logos/lasig-logo_flat_graphic_1000.svg

Flat wordmark lockups (horizontal and vertical) are available on request, following the same naming pattern.

Sizes

Size Width Typical use
Bug 16×16 px or 32×32 px only Favicons, app icons, tiny UI elements
Small 150 px Inline mentions, email signatures
Medium 350 px Web headers, social posts
Large 500 px Presentation slides, printed handouts
XL 1000 px Posters, banners, large-format print

Bug files are supplied only at 16×16 and 32×32 — do not use the bug at any other size. Outside of the bug, the logo must never be used narrower than 64 px wide.

Other sizes are available on request.

File formats

Format Best for Notes
SVG Web, print, anywhere you need lossless scaling Preferred default; one file covers every size
PNG Digital use needing a transparent background Offered at the same fixed pixel sizes as above
JPEG Contexts requiring a flattened, opaque file Same fixed sizes as PNG; use only when transparency isn’t supported
WebP Web use wanting smaller file sizes than PNG with transparency support Same fixed sizes as PNG; use where browser support is confirmed

Other formats are available on request.
